Luncheon - Amy Supinger, Supinger Strategies - Rising Cost of Higher Education



Speaker Bio:

Amy Supinger is the founder of Supinger Strategies, Incorporated, a consulting firm focused on California fiscal and policy matters, with an emphasis on education policy and finance. A veteran of 20 years of state-level education and fiscal policy, Ms. Supinger brings a wealth of experience and skills to her practice. Her policy and budget expertise spans from pre-Kindergarten to postgraduate education. 

During her lengthy tenure with the Legislature, Ms. Supinger worked for both the Senate and the Assembly and was known for her ability to bridge the divide between political parties. A former Consultant with the Senate Committee on Budget and Fiscal Review, she served as a trusted advisor to the California State Senate on all matters related to postsecondary education finance. Ms. Supinger also served as the Chief Consultant to the Assembly Committee on Higher Education, leading the policy work of that committee. As a Budget Analyst at the Department of Finance, she trained in the foundations of public finance. 

Since leaving the Legislature in 2009, Ms. Supinger lead the work of the 2011 Community Colleges Student Success Task Force and has helped her clients navigate Sacramento’s complex policy environment. Supinger Strategy clients have included the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, the Lumina Foundation, the College Futures Foundation; the California Community Colleges, and The Foundation for California Community Colleges, among others. 

Ms. Supinger holds a Masters Degree in Public Policy and Administration from the California State University, Sacramento and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. She resides in Sacramento with her husband and their two rescue dogs, Lulu and Dexter.
