Luncheon - Rachel Minnick, Reading Partners

Speaker Bio:

Rachel Minnick is Executive Director of Reading Partners in Sacramento, an organization that places community volunteers in low-income schools to help kids master basic reading skills. This one-on-one tutoring model empowers students to succeed in reading and in life by engaging community volunteers to provide individualized, personal attention to each student in the program.
Rachel has served as Executive Director of Reading Partners since 2015, after serving as district director for Sacramento City Councilwoman Angelique Ashby. Her professional experience spans over 20 years in organizations in the Bay Area and Sacramento, including Peninsula Family YMCA, San Mateo-Foster City School District, WEAVE, Child Action, Inc., and the California Charter Schools Association. Besides her passion for education, she is interested in building collaboration among local nonprofits and reforming the way we approach fundraising, with the end goal of improving the way nonprofits deliver services. She and husband, Michael, live in South Sacramento with their daughter Jojo, and Chihuahua mutts Charlie and Bubbles. Their son, Hank, is a sophomore at Southern Oregon University, studying business marketing.
